IT’S WHERE WE’VE COME FROM
With expert advice and guidance from Contego…
Contego was founded in early 2004 by CEO Michael Taylor. The then 18-year-old entrepreneur began his career working as an animal trainer on feature films including the Harry Potter series at their London studios.
After several years in London, Michael decided to move back to the North East of England to set up his business focusing on pest and bird control. Michael gained the support of the Prince’s Trust who provided him with a £1500 business loan, a £500 grant, and the services of a mentor for 12 months.
Since 2004, Contego has grown into one of the leading National Pest Control business in the UK, with expansion to offices in Aberdeen and London, and have built a blue-chip client base we are very proud of.
We like to do things a little different; our diverse approach to business has seen exciting growth and has helped to ensure we are fast becoming the number one choice National Pest Control provider across multiple industries. We have achieved this success though innovation, delivery and installing strong customer focused values that our customers recognise and value.
Contego 2020, marks the launch of brands Home Pest and Home Shield into the Contego family. The launch of these exciting brands will enable us to give our customers the option to choose from a number of customisable solutions, giving the customer full control and flexibility while still providing excellent customer service that Contego have built their remarkable reputation on.
2020, also marks the launch of our Contego Smart Pest Control delivery model which is set to revolutionise Pest Control service delivery, our risk focused reporting and real time customer dashboards giving our customers multisite compliance at their fingertips.

Contego Home Pest – The Domestic One
At Contego Home Pest, we ask our customers how they would like to resolve their pest issue. Our Home Pest customers can choose from a fully service option carried out by one of our highly qualified technicians or the choice to choose our popular DIY option. If removing your pest issue solely by yourself seems a little daunting then Contego Home Pest can assistance you with areas you are struggling by offering additional service or supplying you with our helpful tutorial videos, the choice really is yours.
Contego Home Shield – The DIY One
At Contego Home Shield our primary focus is to find the right solution for our customers pest issue by giving our customers full flexibility and control of their pest issue. Contego Home Shield enables the customer to choose how they wish to resolve their pest issue by selecting from a number of customisable options ranging from full DIY options, part DIY/part service or a fully service option. Contego Home Shield offers customers a wide selection of 5 star rated products and include helpful tutorial videos to enable customers to remove their pest issue themselves. However if your pest issue cannot be resolved or is too big for a DIY option, then Contego Home Shield can offer you a number of customisable service options that can also be added as an option.

Michael has a wealth of experience in providing professional bird, pest control, and environmental services
mainly to commercial clients across the UK. Since starting the business in 2004, Michael has spearheaded its
development into one of the leading providers of bird and pest control services in the UK.
Michael’s passion for animals, especially birds of prey, stems from his childhood where at the age of 11 he
was introduced to the world of falconry. This is where his career really began! Even to this day, he is personally involved with falconry in the United Arab Emirates.
He combined his fascination with animals with his love for design, media and film which he was studying at
college, when he accepted a role as an animal trainer and handler working for the Harry Potter franchise.
His focus is very much on innovation, strategy, staff development and operations which will give Contego a
sustainable, competitive advantage and create long-term positive working partnerships with clients. This has
been and continues to be, his formula for success.
Hannah joined the Contego family in November 2019 and now looks after our ecommerce and marketing. She has several years experience in the Digital sector and has worked for multiple multi-national companies.
As part of her role at Contego, Hannah is managing the sales channels, Marketing and PPC for our new ranges, Home Pest and Home Shield. She enjoys going out with friends, walking her dog Roo and travelling.
Gillain is a part of our Sales Project Support Team who joined the business in October 2019. She has over 20 years of sales experience and has worked all over the country.
Gillian enjoys spending time with her sons & her 2 grandchildren. She loves to go walking and socialising with friends.
The most important thing is to enjoy your life – to be happy – it’s all that matters.

blue-chip commercial companies. But no matter which client the company are working with, Michael’s aim
has always been simple; to grow and develop the company by providing real solutions to the customer.
